Translation Party
Welcome to my new favorite website.
Translation Party
You type a phrase in, and then it translates it back and forth into Japanese and English until it finds a version of the phrase that's identical in both languages. Seriously fun.
Here are some example translations that my friends and I have come up with so far...
Original: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Equilibrium: Our Father, art in heaven, holy name. If Britain is a heaven and Earth Day. Trespasses can live on bread. Attraction of evil, has led to the Tang dynasty. Amen.
Original: "To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?"
Equilibrium: "It is not necessary: Question: Sea, arm slings, especially the pain, the arrow, the patrician pain tis?"
Original: "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life."
Equilibrium: "The man is 31, will bring a warm day. If his life, warm fire, and set the rest of the men."
Original: "Good gracious, ass is bodacious"
Equilibrium: "Well, the bottom is unmistakable."
Original: "I don't mean to sound forward, but you've got a nice rack."
Equilibrium: "I have all the sound."
Original: You're extremely manipulative, but not very good at it.
Equilibrium: You do amazing work.
Original: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
WARNING = It is doubtful that this phrase will ever reach equilibrium.
(On the upside, Black Eyed Peas lyrics stay roughly equal in comprehensibility...)
Original: Fill up my cup. Mazel Tov. Look at her dancing. Just take it off. Let's paint the town. We'll shut it down. Let's burn the roof, and then we'll do it again.
Equilibrium: Please fill my cup. Mazel Tov. Please see her dance. Take a rest. I can paint the town. We will shut down. To burn the roof, I do not.
