German Wheel from "Psy"

This is my buddy Julien, doing his act on the German wheel from the play "Psy".

In the context of the play, this is a metaphor for his struggle with sex addiction. It's one of the most moving parts of the show.

It's also the sexiest thing you'll see today.

"My Lakeside" by DJ Sweet & Sauer

My younger brother's latest foray into music. The lyrics aren't great, but I'm still proud of him.

What English Sounds Like to Non-English Speakers

Thanks to my friend Pete for sharing!

"This Italian parody of a 60s/70s pop song is sung entirely in gibberish designed to sound like American English. If you've ever wondered what other people think Americans sound like, this is it."

Kiwi!

This is probably the saddest and most heart-breaking thing I've ever posted on here, but I love it so much.

"Get This Right" by The Villers

A great song by a band that I'm friends with. I love these guys. :)

(Note to Heidi: If I wrote anything accurate about being in a band in that novel I was writing, it's because of these guys.)

Les Petits Boudins

"Les Petits Boudins" by Dominique Walter
circa 1967

Fun dancing, which apparently inspired Elevator Repair Service for their show The Sun Also Rises - First Part.

Translation Party

Welcome to my new favorite website.

Translation Party

You type a phrase in, and then it translates it back and forth into Japanese and English until it finds a version of the phrase that's identical in both languages. Seriously fun.

Here are some example translations that my friends and I have come up with so far...

Original: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Equilibrium: Our Father, art in heaven, holy name. If Britain is a heaven and Earth Day. Trespasses can live on bread. Attraction of evil, has led to the Tang dynasty. Amen.

Original: "To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?"

Equilibrium: "It is not necessary: Question: Sea, arm slings, especially the pain, the arrow, the patrician pain tis?"

Original: "Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life."

Equilibrium: "The man is 31, will bring a warm day. If his life, warm fire, and set the rest of the men."

Original: "Good gracious, ass is bodacious"

Equilibrium: "Well, the bottom is unmistakable."

Original: "I don't mean to sound forward, but you've got a nice rack."

Equilibrium: "I have all the sound."

Original: You're extremely manipulative, but not very good at it.

Equilibrium: You do amazing work.

Original: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

WARNING = It is doubtful that this phrase will ever reach equilibrium.

(On the upside, Black Eyed Peas lyrics stay roughly equal in comprehensibility...)

Original: Fill up my cup. Mazel Tov. Look at her dancing. Just take it off. Let's paint the town. We'll shut it down. Let's burn the roof, and then we'll do it again.

Equilibrium: Please fill my cup. Mazel Tov. Please see her dance. Take a rest. I can paint the town. We will shut down. To burn the roof, I do not.

Benny Lava

The subtitles say what the words sort of sound like in English, NOT what they're actually singing.

One of the most popular phonetic translation videos on Youtube today is Crazy Indian Video created by Youtube user Buffalax on August 18th, 2007. The original song is “Kalluri Vaanil” by Tamil artists Prabhu Deva and Jaya Sheel, but is known around the interwebs as “Benny Lava.”

OK Go Dance Routines

OK Go. Dancing. On treadmills. This was their official music video for "Here It Goes Again". (Trivia: The guy lip-synching was not the lead singer for this song; the tall hottie in the red pants was.)

Yeah, so you've probably seen that before. For the record, I started listening to OK Go BEFORE this video was out. They used to do a choreographed dance to their song "Cinnamon Lips" (for which the bald guy DID sing lead) at their concerts that I thought was hilarious. Here's a partial video of that routine taken in 2005:

And here's a video of them dancing to their song "A Million Ways" in someone's backyard:

Tandi Iman Dupree - "Holding out for a Hero"

Tandi Iman "Holding Out for A Hero" talent from MBA 2001.

The star's entrance alone is pretty incredible, but this video contains several "oh my gosh, I can't believe that just happened moments." Keep in mind that both performers are male.

BrainStorm! Evil League of Evil Application

This was an entry for a promotional contest for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. The goal was to create an application video for a villian to try to get into the Evil League of Evil. Why am I posting this particular entry? Because it was created by my boyfriend and his friends. And because it's awesome.
